Eugenia Kuyda Launches AI Assistant «Woopy» 12 Years After Her First Idea

Twelve years after first appearing on the TechCrunch Disrupt stage to present a chatbot named «AI.io», former Replika founder and CEO Eugenia Kuyda has returned to unveil her new project: a personal AI assistant named «Woopy», which is now officially available to all users.

At that time, prior to the breakthroughs in deep learning and large language models, the original «AI.io» chatbot from her former company, Luka, acted as a lifestyle coordinator for booking restaurants and trips. Today, technology is finally catching up with her original vision to compete with a new wave of AI assistants like «Mist» and «Instinct» through the launch of the «Woopy» application, which relies on multi-threaded conversations.

What does «Woopy» offer?

The new AI assistant differs in its multi-threaded and multi-participant design, allowing users to maintain dedicated agent conversation threads for various long-term tasks and goals, such as weight loss trackers or family children's events. In the upgraded version of the system, the AI agent automatically determines which applications to build upon being linked to the user's email, with the option to request additional customized applications.

  • Support for multi-threaded conversations to prevent clutter and hallucinations caused by long single threads.
  • The ability to share conversation threads to function as fully integrated group chat rooms that combine multiple users with the AI agent.
  • Provision of tools directly connected to email, calendar, and other details within the context of each shared conversation.

Privacy and Business Model

Regarding data protection and privacy, the developing company confirmed that the system complies with SOC 2 standards, meaning data security controls have undergone independent auditing, while the system operates entirely in the cloud with most data stored in the United States. The application remains available to users for free so far without a final commercial model determined yet, as the company continues discussions to raise additional funding rounds.
