Valeo highlighted the pivotal role of its engineering center in Egypt during its participation in the Paris Motor Show, presenting interactive demonstrations that showcase the contributions of local talent in developing software-defined vehicle technologies and artificial intelligence for global automakers.
The Evolution of the Valeo Egypt Center
Since its establishment in 2005 with a limited team, the Valeo Egypt center in Cairo has expanded to become the largest software excellence center within the Valeo Group and the largest research and development center in North Africa. Today, the center employs more than 3,000 engineers who contribute approximately 50% of the group's total software output, across sectors including automated parking systems, driver assistance, digital cockpits, and precision smart lighting.
Smart Technologies for the Software-Defined Vehicle Era
At the exhibition, the Valeo Egypt team presented models of advanced solutions demonstrating how software enables the updating of vehicle functions after production and the addition of new features throughout their lifecycle. The demonstrations included high-definition headlights capable of projecting animations onto the road using artificial intelligence algorithms developed by Cairo engineers, as well as the use of taillights to display the charge level of electric vehicle batteries.
Energy Management and Driving Experience Personalization
The team's demonstrations included technologies for customizing in-vehicle display backgrounds while maintaining safety standards, as well as bi-directional charging technology that allows electric vehicles to support the power grid when appropriate infrastructure is available. This trend is supported by the Artificial Intelligence Development Center that the company opened in Cairo last April to expand smart applications.
What Does This Development Represent for the Automotive Sector?
This presence reflects the ability of regional engineering talent to shape the future of the global automotive industry by relying on smart software rather than just traditional vehicle specifications, opening new horizons for personalizing user experiences and increasing energy management efficiency.
