Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro Review: Superior Technical Performance... But It Leans Toward iPhone Users

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro is one of the most prominent solutions currently available in the portable wireless charger market, combining a 10,000 mAh capacity, Qi2 wireless charging technology, and an innovative cooling system. Despite its technical superiority, tests indicate a gap in the user experience between Apple and Android devices, as the product appears designed primarily to serve iPhone users.

Advanced Technical Specifications and Compact Design

The new (Pro) version comes as an improvement to the previous version, featuring a lighter weight (220 grams) and less thickness (17.5 mm), making it easy to carry while on the go. From a technical standpoint, the charger provides high charging capabilities including:

  • Wireless Charging: supports speeds up to 25W via the Qi2 standard.
  • Wired Charging: provides 45W power for input (to charge the bank itself) and output (to charge other devices).
  • Smart Screen: displays accurate information about charging status, battery level, temperature, and fan status.

Active Cooling System (SnapCool)

To address the common heat issue in wireless charging, Anker has integrated a small cooling fan with a diameter of 18 mm that operates when wireless charging reaches 15W. This system relies on layers of Graphene under the charger surface, with top and bottom ventilation slots to maintain a stable temperature of approximately 36°C. Although the fan produces a slight noise (between 30-40 dB), it prevents the annoying rise in phone temperature, which is vital for maintaining battery health during fast charging.

What Does This Product Change in Practice?

The fundamental difference lies in how different devices respond to this charger. When testing the charger with an iPhone 18 Pro Max, it showed excellent performance, charging 80% of the battery in just one hour. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 faced difficulties in full compatibility; despite supporting the Qi2 standard, the charger took time to recognize the protocol, and the device's temperature rose significantly, leading to a slower charging process compared to the iPhone.

The Gap Between Apple and Android Standards

These results raise questions about the future of the open Qi2 standard. While the standard was designed to be compatible with Apple's MagSafe technology, it seems that manufacturers like Anker still prioritize software optimization and charging profiles for iPhone devices. This means that Android users, even with devices that support Qi2 such as the Pixel 10 series or Galaxy S, may not receive the same efficiency or accuracy of data displayed on the charger's smart screen.

In short, the Anker MagGo 2 Pro represents the pinnacle of technology in portable charging, but it remains a technically "biased" product, making it an ideal choice for iPhone users and an "acceptable but not ideal" choice for Android users.
