Apple Prepares to Launch iOS 27.3 and Tests Sub-Update to Fix Vulnerabilities

Imminent Updates for Apple Systems

Technical visitor logs indicate that Apple has begun testing the iOS 27.2.1 update, which is expected to be a sub-update focusing primarily on fixing software bugs and patching security vulnerabilities, including special improvements for the iPhone Duo device recently launched by the company on October 23. A similar update for macOS 27.2.1 is also expected to address an issue related to command line tools accepting compromised web certificates belonging to eMudhra.

Apple Intelligence Features in China

On the other hand, Apple is expected to release the first developer beta of the iOS 27.3 system soon, as the company confirmed in a press release directed at the Chinese market that this update will bring a set of Apple Intelligence features to iPhone 15 Pro and later models. These features include writing tools, Genmoji, the Clean Up feature, notification summaries, and live translation via AirPods.

To enhance these capabilities, Apple has partnered with Alibaba to integrate its smart assistant Qwen into Siri services, writing tools, and visual intelligence. However, Apple clarified that the advanced Siri AI features announced at the WWDC 2026 conference, in addition to the Image Playground feature, will not be available in China within this update.

What Does This Mean for Users?

This direction confirms Apple's strategy of gradually expanding generative artificial intelligence services while taking local regulatory requirements into account. Activating these features in China requires setting the phone and Siri language settings to English and Simplified Chinese. It is also worth noting that Apple Intelligence features will not be available on Mac or iPad devices in China until Apple obtains the necessary regulatory approvals, placing clear geographic restrictions on the current scope of deployment for these technologies.
