Emerald AI has launched an alliance that includes Google, Nvidia, Anthropic, and several utility companies to use demand management to provide an additional 100 gigawatts of capacity for new data centers. The idea relies on pausing noncritical tasks or temporarily shifting computing workloads instead of relying entirely on diesel generators, but it does not eliminate the need for new generation sources.
