Microsoft said that the average water usage efficiency of its data centers declined from 2.3 to 0.27 liters per kilowatt-hour in 2025, while reaching the point of replenishing more water globally than it withdrew during fiscal year 2025. The company combines low- or zero-water-consumption cooling technologies, reuse, and investment in local infrastructure.
