Turkcell conducted a remote robotic surgery demonstration between the Turkish ship TCG Anadolu and Kocaeli University, using a 5G network and network slicing technology to isolate data traffic and provide a secure, real-time connection. The company says the demonstration made the ship the first military naval vessel of its kind among Mediterranean countries to have a robotic surgery infrastructure.
Turkey tested, aboard the military vessel TCG Anadolu, a robotic surgery system based on a 5G connection and guidance from physicians at Kocaeli University, as part of a project aimed at developing remote surgery at sea. The current trial was limited to an organ model and recorded a response time of approximately 135 milliseconds.
