NETSCOUT Detects 9.1 Million Distributed Denial-of-Service Attacks During the First Half of 2026

NETSCOUT detected more than 9.1 million distributed denial-of-service attacks worldwide between January and June 2026, with attacks exceeding 1 terabit per second or 1 gigabit per second increasing by 1,286% year over year. The report points to a rise in high-speed attacks, the exploitation of residential IP addresses, and a growing need for selective traffic scrubbing at network edges.
