A U.S. federal judge ordered OpenAI to provide Apple with interview materials it collected from former Apple employees, along with private messages and testimony related to a lawsuit alleging that confidential information was transferred to OpenAI’s consumer hardware project.
Apple says its former employee Chang Liu used a confidential electrical schematic and an internal tool in his work at OpenAI, and that he and his colleague Yu-Ting Peng attempted to destroy evidence after the investigation began. OpenAI disputes Apple’s account, while the company is seeking a court order preventing the development of hardware based on its technologies while the lawsuit is pending.
