U.S. President Donald Trump announced the formation of the “Super Intelligence Force,” led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, which is to prepare within 120 days a report on the risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence. The decision reflects an effort to accelerate U.S. leadership while avoiding regulation that, the force’s charter says, could hinder innovation and competition.
David Robinson, who led the preparation of safety reports accompanying OpenAI’s major launches, resigned, believing that the company’s culture does not provide safety with the necessary time and incentives. OpenAI responded that it is strengthening the security of research and testing environments, expanding monitoring and external evaluation, and may halt training or delay models when necessary.
