Cultivate Power used a mounting system developed by Planted Solar to build the Bowes Solar project on an irregular 22-acre site in Elgin, Illinois, despite the presence of power lines, railway tracks, and a wetland. The design reduces the land requirement for community solar projects to about two acres per megawatt-peak, enabling the use of land that had previously been difficult to develop.
The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Coalition for Community Solar Access (CCSA) announced that they will unify their operations after approval by both organizations’ boards of directors. The CCSA team, resources, and policy work will be integrated into SEIA in early October. The decision gives the expanded association unified representation across the various solar and storage sectors, from large-scale projects to community solar.
