Meta adds planning and task-execution capabilities to Meta AI through Muse Spark 1.1

On July 24, 2026, Meta announced a set of new capabilities for its Meta AI assistant, powered by the Muse Spark 1.1 model. These capabilities allow the assistant to move beyond providing answers and creating content to preparing plans, carrying out subsequent steps, and following tasks on the user’s behalf. The new capabilities include connecting to email and calendar applications, creating presentations, providing daily briefings, and conducting extensive research.

Earlier this month, Meta announced the Muse Spark 1.1 model, which powers the Meta AI app and meta.ai. According to the company, the model was designed to plan, work with applications, and follow a task from beginning to end—the capabilities underlying the new updates. Meta describes this move as part of its direction toward what it calls “personal superintelligence”: an assistant that understands the user’s context, is available when needed, and handles certain tasks on the user’s behalf.

From answering to planning and follow-up

Users can now tell Meta AI that they are renovating their kitchen. The assistant can then understand their style, search Marketplace for furniture and fixtures that fit their budget, and send an inspiration board showing the proposed look. It can also prepare a weekly training plan for a user preparing for their first half-marathon, taking their free time into account, and then share the week’s plan every Monday morning.

In another scenario, users can ask it to organize a birthday dinner. Meta AI can search for restaurants, check the calendar to find a suitable evening, and then suggest options. Recurring tasks do not need to be set up each time; users can specify what they want and when they want it once—for example, a weekly meal plan, alerts about the latest sneaker releases, or an afternoon update on specific trends—and the assistant will deliver them periodically.

Daily briefings, research, and presentations

Meta AI can prepare a daily briefing that combines what is on the user’s calendar and searches for relevant updates, such as detecting schedule conflicts or noticing a change in plans, then provide a quick summary at the time the user prefers. It can also research a topic within minutes by gathering information from across the web, including research papers and content published by creators and communities on Meta’s applications.

After the research is complete, users can ask it to turn the results into a slide presentation. Meta says that everything Meta AI creates—from training schedules to slide presentations and inspiration boards—will remain in one place so users can review, develop, and share it with their friends.

Real-time guidance while carrying out a task

Users do not have to wait for a report, presentation, or plan to be completed before giving feedback. While Meta AI is preparing the content, users can guide it in real time, such as by changing the focus or tone or deleting a section, and the assistant will immediately adjust its course according to the new instructions.

Availability and privacy

Meta will begin rolling out these capabilities on July 24, 2026, in select markets through the Meta AI app and meta.ai. The company plans to make them available in more countries and interfaces, including WhatsApp, in the following weeks. Meta also says that users choose how to use the assistant, whether to get quick answers, more detailed responses that reflect their context, or help with shopping through posts, Reels, and products shared by users on the company’s applications.

For conversations that users want to keep private, Meta says that Incognito conversations are available. The announcement did not specify which markets are included in the initial rollout or when each interface will become available separately.
