Google has unveiled the Pixel 11 Pro Fold foldable phone, which it describes as its most advanced device in this category. The phone combines a lighter and thinner design compared with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold with improvements to durability, charging, and displays, along with new artificial intelligence tools and the ability to convert sign language into text.
The phone is available for preorder through the Google Store, while its retail rollout begins on August 20. The material did not mention additional details about pricing or geographic availability, referring users instead to the Google Store for availability information and product updates.
A Thinner Design and Interactive Lighting
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold weighs about 10% less and is approximately one millimeter thinner than the previous generation, with slimmer bezels around both displays. The phone is available in the familiar Obsidian color, along with the new Olive color.
Google is adding a system called HiLight to the camera bar. It uses LED lights arranged around the camera flash to display quick visual notifications. The system can use different colors to alert users to incoming calls from favorite contacts or to indicate that they are speaking with Gemini hands-free. The company says other functions will be added to HiLight in the future, including message notifications from favorite contacts.
Improved Durability and Faster Charging
The phone retains an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water, with a new fiberglass-composite back cover and a gearless hinge to protect the inner display. The outer Super Actua display also uses highly durable ceramic glass. According to Google, the device is three times more durable than last year’s phone, based on internal testing with preproduction devices.
The company also says that the new hinge, thanks to its larger bend radius and the thicker glass layer in the inner display, improves the performance of the folding area. Both displays reach a brightness of 3,600 nits, which is 20% higher than the previous generation.
For charging, the battery can reach 50% capacity in about 30 minutes using 30-watt wired charging, while Qi2.2 wireless charging at up to 25 watts provides speeds that are 20% higher than those of the previous generation. Google says the battery lasts for more than 24 hours, although the actual duration varies depending on usage and enabled features.
New Chip and Dual-Display Features
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by the dedicated Tensor G6 chip and 16GB of RAM, and is designed to work with Gemini Intelligence tools. The dual-display setup benefits from real-time translation features, most notably the sign-language-to-text conversion function developed by Google in partnership with the deaf community.
The function allows users to express themselves in sign language within Live Transcribe and Gboard in their native language, with the translation appearing on the outer display when the front-facing camera is used. The phone’s design supports signing with one hand or both hands, and it can be set down without needing to be held while signing.
Google has also improved the bubbles feature to make multitasking easier: any app can be converted into a bubble that appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen when the phone is opened. Earlier foldable-device features, such as drag and drop, split screen, and Instant View, remain available, along with new animations for the Made You Look feature. The phone also receives features from the rest of the Pixel 11 devices, including proactive assistance and improved integration between Circle to Search and the Pixel camera.
48-Megapixel Main Camera
The phone includes a new 48-megapixel main camera, along with a telephoto camera offering up to 30x zoom through Super Zoom. Google says the system is designed to capture clear images in wide scenes and very close-up shots.
New photography capabilities in the Pixel 11 series include Magic Capture and Camera Looks. The former helps capture the right moment when the subject is moving, while the latter allows users to customize the appearance of photos to match their vision.
Google has also introduced a dedicated case for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold with built-in hinge protection. The product notes explain that water and dust resistance is not permanent and that damage caused by drops or external forces is not covered by warranties. Some features may also require an internet connection or be available only in certain countries and languages.
