AWS unveiled a collection of weekly updates spanning developer community tools, artificial intelligence services, cloud computing, and Java. Highlights include the launch of the AWS Builder Center app on iOS and Android, the general availability of Amazon Connect Talent and Amazon Corretto 27, and the arrival of Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 model on Amazon Bedrock.
Builder Center Comes to Mobile Devices
AWS Builder Center is now available globally through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app allows users to sign in with an AWS Builder ID, browse trending articles, access more than 600 courses on AWS Skill Builder, and manage hands-on workshops that provide free practice environments.
It also enables users to follow AWS Heroes, Community Builders, and user group leaders; view Builder Loft event schedules; and receive notifications about followed topics and communities. The platform also supports a Wishlist feature for submitting product feedback to AWS teams. AWS added a surveys feature that allows users to ask a question with two to five options and display aggregated results and percentages without revealing voters’ identities.
In parallel, AWS opened registration for the Zero to Shipped hackathon, running from September 18 to October 2. The challenge requires connecting a software agent to AWS, building a real application, and deploying it, with total prizes worth $28,000. Each of five winning projects receives $5,000 in AWS credits and a Builder-branded promotional product bundle.
General Availability for AI and Java Services
Amazon Connect Talent is now generally available for talent acquisition teams managing large-scale hiring operations. The service uses artificial intelligence agents to conduct structured voice interviews and evidence-based assessments, linking each score to specific evidence from the interview. Final decision-making authority remains with recruiters, while candidate data is de-identified during automated evaluation.
The generally available version includes voice interviews with adaptive questions, competency-based assessment, a mobile-optimized candidate portal with customizable branding, and tools for administrator preparation.
AWS also launched Amazon Corretto 27, a free, cross-platform Feature Release of OpenJDK for Linux, Windows, and macOS, with support through April 2027. Changes include making G1 the default garbage collector, post-quantum-resistant hybrid key exchange in TLS 1.3, compact object headers to reduce memory consumption, and the ability to redact sensitive data from Java Flight Recorder recordings before they leave the JVM.
Updates to Bedrock, EC2, and Elastic Beanstalk
Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 model is now available on Amazon Bedrock for coding and knowledge tasks. According to the developer, the model has 2.8 trillion parameters, native vision capabilities, and a context window of one million tokens, with support for explicit prompt caching to reduce latency and input costs when context is reused.
AWS made low-cost, burstable EC2 T8i instances available, built on sixth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. AWS says they deliver up to a 30% improvement in price performance compared with T3, along with up to 70% higher compute performance, 1.25 times greater network bandwidth, and 2.4 times higher Amazon EBS bandwidth.
Elastic Beanstalk Cluster Mode enables multiple applications to run on shared infrastructure supported by Amazon EKS, with rolling deployments, automatic rollback, event-driven scaling, and integration with AWS Secrets Manager, OpenTelemetry, and AI-powered troubleshooting tools.
What Changes in Practice?
These updates combine lower barriers for new developers with expanded advanced options for existing teams. The mobile app improves access to learning and workshops, while the Bedrock and Elastic Beanstalk updates target teams building applications and agents at greater scale. However, some figures—such as the EC2 performance gains and AgentCore startup time—remain tied to AWS tests or specific operating conditions, and therefore require practical verification before being adopted as the basis for infrastructure decisions.
