Apple Health App Update Expands Language Support and Adds Advanced AI Features

Apple announced the expansion of language support for its redesigned Health app to include global English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, and Vietnamese, providing personalized health insights to millions of users around the world.

At its core, the app relies on the company's artificial intelligence technologies (Apple Intelligence), dynamically adapting to user health indicators across iPhone and iPad devices to provide guidance on improving daily routines and a comprehensive view of long-term wellness, while maintaining data privacy and protecting it with complete security.

Key Features and New Tabs in the App

The updated experience includes the new Insights tab, which provides real-time summaries covering heart rate data, sleep, readiness, fitness, vital signs, and life cycle tracking. The For You personalized recommendations section also offers smart suggestions compatible with the user's daily habits.

To help users understand their health journey, the Longevity tab offers longitudinal metrics including heart health, sleep, mental wellness, mobility, metabolic health, hearing, and nutrition. This tab features the Health Age feature, which translates Apple Watch data — such as VO2 max, resting heart rate, sleep, and heart rate variability — into a metric reflecting the body's tracking compared to the user's chronological age.

Home Mobility Assessments and Privacy

The update also introduces home mobility assessments that make physical check-ups accessible without the need for specialized equipment, using the iPhone camera and Apple Watch to measure body flexibility, strength, balance, and movement mechanics, while providing real-time audio and visual feedback. This experience works entirely on-device using AI-powered computer vision models, without recording, storing, or sharing any video clips.

What This Update Changes for Users?

The redesigned Health app is currently available in the developer beta of iOS 27.3, and is scheduled to be released to all users as a free software update later in the year. Running some advanced features such as the Health Age feature requires using an Apple Watch, while testing the VO2 max estimate requires an Apple Watch, AirPods Pro 3, or an external heart rate sensor, with age and regional restrictions on some features according to local regulations.
