The ZET SCALE Alliance announced that its members have committed to purchasing 2,500 Class 8 electric trucks, most of which will be supplied by Tesla, alongside Kenworth, Volvo, and RIDE. The initiative aims to reduce the risks of transitioning to zero-emission transportation by combining demand, financing, and charging in a single model.
Tesla was selected as the primary supplier for an order of 2,500 heavy-duty electric trucks under the ZET SCALE coalition, in a deal that could nearly double the number of electric Class 8 trucks operating on U.S. roads. However, the order does not mean that all the trucks will be Tesla Semi models, as it includes secondary suppliers Kenworth, Volvo, and RIDE.
