OpenAI introduced the GPT-6.1 Sol model for coding, computer use, document analysis, and multi-step workflows, with performance approaching GPT-6 Astra in several tests and API prices at approximately one-fifth of Astra’s cost. The model is available through ChatGPT Work, Codex, and the API, but has not yet reached the standard chat interface.
Anthropic announced the Opus 5.5 model, while OpenAI unveiled GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, with a shared focus on reducing usage costs and improving coding and adherence to safety controls. The results of the comparisons and proposals for external evaluation standards still require independent verification.
