Egyptian company UMAMI E-Learning Solutions announced the launch of the Learning Operating System, LOS, an AI-powered learning infrastructure designed for governments, ministries, and large institutions in the Middle East and North Africa. The launch is backed by a phased investment plan exceeding EGP 50 million, equivalent to $1 million, to develop and roll out the system as the company expands in Egypt and the region.
A platform connecting learning to work outcomes
UMAMI was founded in 2019 by Ahmed Seif El-Din and develops digital solutions for learning and workforce development for governments, educational institutions, and companies. The company says its experience supporting large-scale learning and workforce development initiatives in more than 35 countries revealed a recurring challenge: institutions invest in learning without having a unified operating layer that connects learning activities to workforce outcomes and institutional performance.
LOS aims to address this gap by unifying learning, skills, performance, and decision-making within a single system. The system also connects learning with workforce readiness and institutional performance, allowing learning data to be turned into actionable insights and measurable outcomes rather than merely delivering content.
Designed to scale across multiple sectors
UMAMI developed the system to be scalable at the national and regional levels, with the ability to integrate into diverse institutional frameworks, including formal education, healthcare, technical and vocational education and training, and corporate environments. According to the company, this enables institutions to move from managing basic learning activities to developing capabilities at scale and measuring their impact.
UMAMI likens LOS’s proposed role to that of enterprise resource planning systems in organizing corporate operations and customer relationship management systems in managing institutions’ interactions with their customers; it seeks to make the system an operating layer connecting learning, skills, workforce readiness, and institutional performance.
Investment and expansion in Egypt and the region
The investment of more than EGP 50 million will fund LOS’s development and rollout, alongside the expansion of UMAMI’s educational infrastructure offering in Egypt and the Middle East and North Africa. The announcement did not provide additional details regarding commercial availability dates, pricing, or the platform’s operational limitations.
The system’s launch follows UMAMI’s receipt of the official startup certification under Egypt’s “Startup Charter,” making it, according to the announcement, one of the first Egyptian companies to receive the designation. The charter provides a state-recognized official framework for the technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem and honors companies that meet national standards for innovation, technological adoption, scalability, and investment readiness.
The charter is linked to the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030 to build a knowledge- and innovation-based economy. It aims to support up to 5,000 startups, generate approximately 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, and accelerate access to international markets over the next five years.

UMAMI was also recently included in the list of Africa’s Top 100 Entrepreneurs for 2026 presented by the African Business Heroes initiative. Ahmed Seif El-Din, the company’s co-founder and chief executive officer, said that launching LOS represents an important milestone in UMAMI’s transition from providing digital learning solutions to building smart learning infrastructure.
He added that receiving the startup designation under the Startup Charter strengthens the company’s role within a national ecosystem that enables innovation at scale, explaining that UMAMI’s focus is on using artificial intelligence and smart infrastructure to redefine how institutions and governments develop human capabilities in Egypt and the region.
