Google Labs announced CC, an experimental artificial intelligence agent designed to help families and household groups manage shared daily activities. The agent can collect information that members choose to share, then organize it into a daily summary and connect it to the calendar and task lists, with the ability to perform some actions, such as preparing registration forms or meal plans, with the user’s permission.
The move follows CC’s trial as a personal agent and its later integration into the Gemini app under the name Daily Brief in May. Google says one of the most prominent requests from early users was to expand its role to include household management, as information is typically spread across multiple email accounts, mental lists, and school and sports schedules.
What does CC offer families?
Up to six members can be invited to a CC group, allowing them to receive a shared summary every morning titled “Your Day Ahead”. The summary shows where family members are, the tasks required, and what the agent accomplished the previous day. CC can also extract dates and tasks from shared information and add them to the family’s calendar or task list, updating them when details change.
Its use extends to recurring administrative tasks. According to the published demonstration, CC can help fill out permission forms or registration files in PDF format, create school-supplies shopping lists, and prepare weekly meal plans. When information is missing, it asks the user for it, then adds it to its shared memory to improve how it handles subsequent requests.
Sharing model and permissions
CC has a verified, independent Google Account, giving it a clear identity when interacting with the group. It responds only to group members and does not take actions or share information outside the group without permission. Each member can determine what they want to share and change these choices later.
The service also allows users to choose email senders whose messages are automatically shared with CC, such as a school or travel reservations. Each week, the family reviews a dedicated list of new senders to decide whether it wants to add them. A message, image, or schedule can be sent to CC one time via email or Google Chat, or files and folders can be shared from Drive and the agent can be added to a calendar.
What changes in practice?
The fundamental shift here is not the addition of another conversational assistant, but the transfer of part of household coordination from an individual account to a shared space with defined permissions. CC connects Gmail, Chat, Docs, and Calendar, and each agent operates on an isolated cloud computer using Google’s Antigravity agent platform and the latest Gemini models. According to Google, this includes tasks such as checking live driving times through the Google Maps API or creating shared documents and spreadsheets.
CC also maintains a shared memory that distinguishes between information relevant to the entire family, such as the usual shopping list, and information specific to an individual, such as dietary preferences or the local time zone. However, the experimental nature of the service means that its effectiveness and practical limitations will remain dependent on the accuracy of the information members share and their need to review actions before approving them.
Availability and limitations
CC is currently available on the web and mobile devices to people aged 18 and older in the United States, provided they have a personal Google Account. Existing users will receive an email to upgrade their accounts, while new users can join the waitlist. Google emphasizes that the artificial intelligence used in this experiment remains experimental, so the announcement does not represent general availability or a substitute for the family’s review of schedules, forms, and actions before they are carried out.
