BYD Prepares to Launch Ultra-Luxury Electric Sedan with Solid-State Battery Technologies

Chinese automaker BYD is preparing to unveil its latest luxury electric sedan under its luxury brand 'Yangwang' in an anticipated global debut to be held in the United Arab Emirates, specifically in Dubai, thus bypassing the domestic Chinese market.

Specifications and Design of the Luxury Car

This anticipated sedan is the largest and most luxurious in the company's production line so far. Local reports and information revealed by brand officials indicate that the car's length is approximately 5,500 mm, directly competing with renowned global models such as the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class and the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The company intends to equip the new model with rear hinged doors resembling Rolls-Royce cars (Coach Doors) in a first-of-its-kind move for BYD vehicles.

What Actually Changes?

This model represents a platform for testing unprecedented advanced technologies; initial indicators observed during the car's display at BYD's supercharging station point to its support for megawatt-range supercharging technology. More importantly, expectations suggest the possibility of it being the first car to utilize solid-state battery technology developed by the company's battery unit 'FinDreams', which plans to begin commercial production of lithium sulfide-based solid-state batteries in 2027.

Availability and Expected Price

The company has not set a final official date, but reports indicate that the unveiling may take place around November 5th in Dubai. Leaks suggest that the expected price for this luxury car may start around 2 million Chinese yuan, equivalent to approximately 300,000 US dollars, placing it in the highest price category, surpassing current Yangwang models such as the U9 sports coupe and the U8 hybrid SUV.
