Apple has officially launched the HomeView Software operating system, version 27.2, which is the core software that will power its upcoming smart device, HomeView. The device is scheduled to hit the market on November 13, with a starting price of $299, and will be available for pre-order on the company's website alongside the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K.
Although the HomeView device was announced previously in October, the early release of the software provides an early look at system features, such as wallpaper options that include 20 diverse, colorful default backgrounds, as well as the ability to set personal photos as wallpapers and change lock screen designs via a dedicated interface.
System Details and Operating Software
Data extracted from the software update revealed technical details regarding the operating system's architecture. Unlike iOS, which relies on the SpringBoard launcher, the HomeView system relies on an entirely new launcher known as BreadBoard, while the process responsible for the Control Center interface is called CupBoard.
The system also supports two display modes: Light Mode and Dark Mode, with an automatic switching feature based on the time of day. Additionally, it provides various animations for the Snoopy character when selecting its dedicated watch face, and displays the traditional "Hello" greeting upon startup.
What the Release Reveals About Apple's Previous Plans
The update included software graphics pointing to a version named HomeView Software 26, which reinforces reports confirming that Apple had planned an earlier launch for its smart device last year but was forced to delay it to complete the development of AI features for Siri AI, in addition to pre-testing the interface on iPad mini generations.
