Apple revealed through its official website dedicated to China its plan to activate a number of features from its artificial intelligence platform (Apple Intelligence) for its users there via the upcoming iOS 27.3 operating system update, while simultaneously postponing some advanced features until local regulatory requirements are met.
Features Included and Excluded in the Update
Official data clarified that the upcoming update will provide users in China access to a core set of functions, including Writing Tools, Genmoji, and the Clean Up tool for removing unwanted elements from photos. The availability will also include notification management features such as Notification Summaries and Priority Notifications, in addition to Visual Intelligence capabilities and the Live Translation with AirPods feature.
Conversely, Apple confirmed that some key capabilities will not be available in this version within China, most notably the upgraded version of the AI-powered voice assistant (Siri AI) and the image generation and editing application (Image Playground).
Device Restrictions and Launch Schedule
According to the published details, the approved features will initially be limited to iPhone 15 Pro models and later versions. The company stated that the operation of these functions on iPad computers, Mac devices, and other devices in the Chinese market will remain suspended until the required official approvals and licenses are obtained from the relevant authorities within the country.
Regarding the scheduled dates, Apple explained that the first beta version of the iOS 27.3 update will be available to developers next week, with the final update to be officially released to all users during December.
