WhatsApp Remittance Platform Félix Raises $200 Million in a Round Led by a16z and General Catalyst

Miami-based Félix, which offers an AI-powered money transfer service through WhatsApp, announced that it raised $200 million in a Series C round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst. The platform targets immigrants from Latin America in the United States by simplifying the process of sending money to their families in the region.

A Round Combining Equity and Debt

a16z provided an $87 million equity investment, with participation from QED Investors, Castle Island Ventures, Switch Ventures, Contour Venture Partners, and Endeavor Catalyst. On the other side, General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund committed to providing $113 million in debt financing to fund the company’s growth.

The round brings the total funding raised by Félix since its founding in 2020 by Manuel Godoy and Bernardo García to approximately $300 million. The company did not disclose its valuation after the round, but said its value had tripled compared with its $75 million Series B round, which was led by QED Investors in 2025.

From Transfers to a Conversational Financial Service

Félix says it has processed transactions worth more than $8 billion to date, and that its revenue grew by more than 2.5 times over the past year. The service connects users in the United States with their families in 11 Latin American markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Peru.

Félix’s experience is based on users describing their needs in natural language within WhatsApp, rather than being pushed to select a specific financial product from the outset. Manuel Godoy said that his personal experience as an immigrant, including the difficulty of obtaining a small loan, was one of the reasons he founded the company.

Why Does This Financing Matter?

The practical significance of this round is not limited to its size, but also lies in the financing structure itself: the company obtained equity capital alongside debt earmarked for expansion. This could give it greater capacity to develop its services and enter additional markets without relying on a single source of funding, but it also means debt obligations whose terms or cost the company did not detail.

The round signals investor interest in digital financial infrastructure that reaches users through messaging applications, rather than solely through traditional banking channels. However, statements by Ali Yahya, a general partner at a16z crypto, about combining artificial intelligence with blockchain networks reflect the investor’s vision, while the source does not explain in detail how these networks are used within the product or what direct operational benefit they provide.

The Next Step and Open Questions

Félix plans to use the capital to expand its offerings and enter new markets in Latin America. The expansion will test its ability to maintain a consistent experience across different markets, particularly because the source does not specify the countries targeted, the new services, or the expansion timeline.

The round comes at a time when fintech companies raised $28.6 billion globally during the first half of 2026, a 22.7% increase from the same period in 2025, but 17.3% below the $34.6 billion raised in the second half of last year, according to Crunchbase data.
