Tesla Prepares to Return US-Made Model 3 Vehicles to the Canadian Market

Tesla is preparing to reintroduce US-made Model 3 vehicle models into the Canadian market, following the detection of new updates on the company's official Canadian website showcasing performance specifications close to the previous versions coming from the Fremont factory.

Indicators of Return from US Factories

The page dedicated to the Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive version on the Canadian website showed a driving range of 584 kilometers on a single charge, with an acceleration rate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.2 seconds, which are the exact same specifications of the Long Range RWD version that Tesla produced at the Fremont factory and sold in Canada two years ago.

This update comes at a time when orders for the version manufactured in Shanghai, China, which is available with a range of 463 kilometers and a competitive price, have stopped due to imposed import quota restrictions that suspended orders until March 2027, leaving Tesla with the option of relying on US factories if it wants to provide a long-range model before then.

What Changes Practically?

The potential return of US-manufactured cars faces prominent financial and regulatory challenges, most notably the 25% counter tariffs imposed by Canada on US vehicles since April 2025, which remain in effect. If Tesla applies similar price increases to these versions, prices will rise to exceed the government subsidy cap for the electric vehicle efficiency program, making them a more expensive option compared to previous Asian versions.

So far, Tesla has not officially announced pricing details or final delivery dates for these models, while Canadian consumers await whether regulatory quotas will change or what competing companies will offer in the coming period.
