A camouflaged prototype of BYD’s ultra-luxury Yangwang sedan has appeared in China. It is nearly 5.5 meters long and features reverse-opening rear doors, with indications that it may support ultra-high-power charging. The company has not yet confirmed the use of solid-state batteries, but it has linked the launch of its first vehicle with this technology to 2027.
Stella Li, Executive Vice President at BYD, said the company is at the forefront of the solid-state battery race and intends to launch its first electric vehicle using this technology in 2027. BYD’s FinDreams unit plans limited production of sulfide-based solid-state batteries in the same year, before expanding to mass production by 2030.
