The video appeared Monday on the r/SelfDrivingCars forum, posted by the user bladerskb, whom the source said is one of a limited number of users of Tesla’s autonomous-driving service in Texas who document their trips. The scene was filmed from the front passenger seat.
What happened at the site?
The car had turned onto a triangular sidewalk extension at an intersection in Austin, an area closed to cars and marked with flexible plastic posts. According to the source, those posts have appeared in Google Street View images since at least February 2024.
The car stopped in front of the barriers, then moved forward slowly and reversed before moving forward again, remaining stopped for some time.
