Siemens Digital Industries Software announced on July 30, 2026, a new strategy to develop the use of artificial intelligence in industrial software, placing three paths at the center of the plan: advanced engineering, intelligent execution and trusted decision-making. The company aims to build a software portfolio described as “AI-native,” so that artificial intelligence becomes part of how products work, rather than merely an additional, separate function.
The announcement came during an event held in Japan, where Siemens explained that its focus on artificial intelligence is linked to three main areas in the product and industrial operations life cycle. These areas include product design and development, manufacturing operations management, and connecting operational and commercial data to support decision-making.
Three paths for applying artificial intelligence
Robert Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Global Sales and Customer Success at Siemens Digital Industries Software, said that the company had invested $280 million in new technologies over the past three fiscal years. According to the presentation, Siemens is expanding the use of artificial intelligence across its existing tools rather than limiting it to a standalone product.
In engineering, the Teamcenter PLM platform uses artificial intelligence to classify parts at speeds up to ten times faster than traditional methods. Designcenter also helps reuse designs and create concepts, while reducing the time required to prepare and verify drawings by up to 50%, according to figures presented by the company.
In manufacturing operations management, the Opcenter platform enables the creation of electronic work instructions (EWI) and bills of process (BOP) up to ten times faster than traditional methods. Siemens says these functions are intended to reduce repetitive work and accelerate the transition from design to execution.
Expansion of Copilot tools
Joe Bohman, Chief Executive Officer of PLM at Siemens Digital Industries Software, explained that artificial intelligence can handle repetitive tasks, allowing engineers to focus more on design work. The company says that Designcenter Copilot functions have been available for seven years, and that more than 50,000 users benefited from artificial intelligence functions in Designcenter during the last 30 days within the collaborative work environment.
In Teamcenter, Copilot helped enable more than 1,000 new users to perform system-use procedures automatically, and also contributed to reducing user onboarding time by 50%, according to Siemens.
Intelligence Center X platform
In June 2026, Siemens introduced the Intelligence Center X platform, which connects data from four types of systems: PLM, ERP, CRM and internal systems. The platform relies on knowledge graph functions to integrate data within a single context, and it can also integrate with Snowflake, Databricks and Palantir platforms.
The platform includes artificial intelligence agents that operate within a model that keeps humans involved in the review and decision-making process. In practice, this means that the goal is not limited to generating answers, but also includes organizing scattered data and connecting it to the tasks of workers and engineers.
