Kia sold more than 8,000 units of its small EV2 electric vehicle during its first three full months on sale, an early sign of growing interest in the entry-level electric SUV. According to early sales data cited by the source from Newsis, EV2 sales reached 8,567 vehicles in the first half of 2026, after sales began in mid-April.
Between May and July, the first three full months of sales, the model’s sales exceeded 8,000 units. In June, the EV2 became Kia’s second-best-selling electric vehicle in Europe, after the EV3 sport utility vehicle.
Prices Target the Entry-Level Segment
EV2 prices in Germany start at €26,600, with monthly leasing offers starting at €199. In the United Kingdom, the long-range EV2 Air is available to order at a starting price of £24,245, including the government’s Electric Clean Car Grant of £3,750.
The EV2 is Kia’s first electric vehicle designed and built in Europe, placing it in a suitable position to compete in the European electric vehicle market. It is slightly more than 4,000 millimeters long, 1,800 millimeters wide, and 1,575 millimeters tall, making it smaller than the Volkswagen ID.3 hatchback.
Range of Up to 453 Kilometers
Despite its compact dimensions, the EV2 offers, according to Kia, class-leading rear legroom, along with up to 403 liters of storage capacity. The vehicle is available in four trim levels: Light, Air, Earth, and GT-Line, with two battery options offering capacities of 42.2 and 61 kilowatt-hours.
WLTP range reaches 317 kilometers with the smaller battery and 453 kilometers with the larger battery. Kia said the EV2 offers one of the longest single-charge ranges among electric vehicles priced below £25,000.
For comparison, the BYD Dolphin Surf starts at £18,675, with a WLTP range of 137 miles, while the larger Boost model starts at £21,975 and has a range of 200 miles.
Infotainment, Connectivity, and Fast Charging
The EV2 uses two versions of Kia’s latest ccNC infotainment system, with separate 12.3-inch instrument-cluster and infotainment displays, as well as a standalone 5-inch climate-control screen. The base trim comes with the Lite version of the system, which provides the same screens and most functions but does not include built-in navigation.
Drivers can access navigation services through third-party smartphone applications, such as Google Maps, and connect them to the vehicle’s infotainment system.
The EV2 is based on the E-GMP platform used in Hyundai’s IONIQ vehicles and some other Kia electric vehicles. However, like the EV3, it uses a 400-volt electrical architecture instead of 800 volts to help reduce costs. With a 118-kilowatt DC charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
The EV2 will not be offered in the United States, while Kia launched its 2027 EV3 there at a starting price of $29,890.
