"Sahl" and "Holding Company for Water" Sign Agreement to Expand Electronic Payment Services and Meter Recharging in Egypt

Delta Egypt for Payments, commercially known as "Sahl," signed a memorandum of understanding with the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater in Egypt, aiming to expand the provision of electronic collection services for water bills and prepaid meter recharging. This step comes to enhance the digital payment options available to citizens and facilitate access to essential services through fintech solutions.

Strategic Cooperation to Enhance Digital Transformation

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the International Water and Wastewater Technology (IWWI) exhibition and conference, in the presence of leaders from the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities. The memorandum was signed by Engineer Mostafa Ahmed El-Shimi, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water, and Major General Hazem Mohamed Ali Saafan, Chairman of "Sahl."

This cooperation aims to integrate Sahl's services within the collection system of the water companies affiliated with the Holding Company, allowing subscribers to pay their dues and recharge prepaid meter cards directly through the "Sahl" application or via the websites and applications of the water company using various bank cards.

What Changes Practically for Users?

This partnership represents a shift in how citizens interact with public utilities, focusing on the following points:

  • Multiple recharging channels: Enabling prepaid meter recharging via NFC technology through smartphones, which spares subscribers from visiting customer service centers.
  • Reducing cash dependency: Promoting a non-cash payment culture in line with the Egyptian state's directions for financial inclusion.
  • Transparency and oversight: Improving the efficiency of financial collection management and ensuring data accuracy and financial oversight of collection processes.
  • Ease of access: Providing the possibility to pay anytime and anywhere via mobile applications.

Supporting the Digital Infrastructure of Utilities

The Ministry of Housing confirmed that this direction is part of a comprehensive plan to mechanize government services and improve the efficiency of public utilities. It is not limited to merely providing a payment method, but extends to include the development of the entire customer service system and improving the user experience in dealing with essential daily services.

This expansion is expected to contribute to increasing collection rates and reducing the time and administrative loss associated with traditional processes, thereby supporting efforts to build an integrated digital financial services system in the Egyptian utility sector.
