Samsung has announced a plan to perform a comprehensive technical update to the Samsung Community platform, which will result in the platform being completely offline for 72 hours. This outage will begin on October 30, 2026, at 5 AM Eastern Time, and maintenance is scheduled to end on November 2, 2026, at the same time.
What Users Need to Do
This update is necessary to ensure secure data migration and system updates, but the company warned that some data will not be automatically transferred to the new version of the platform. Users are strongly advised to back up their important information, as the following data will be lost after the update:
- Unpublished drafts.
- Direct Messages.
- Bookmarks.
- Topic and board subscriptions.
- Keyword subscriptions.
Samsung also noted that beginner-level user accounts (levels 1 and 2) that have not logged in within the past six months will not have their data migrated. Users can save their data locally or request to download it via the "Download My Data" option on the Samsung account privacy website.
Upcoming Functional Changes
Alongside the technical update, the platform will witness changes in the user experience, including:
- Direct Messages: The ability to send messages without entering a subject title, while canceling the option to report individual messages and limiting reports to the entire conversation.
- Accepted Solutions: The option to designate a "Solution" will be restricted to main comments only, and nested replies will not be eligible for this classification.
- Deletion Policy: New restrictions will be imposed preventing users from deleting their posts or comments once they receive replies from other users.
It is worth noting that users will still be able to browse current posts and comments via the web during the downtime, but interaction with the platform will be completely disabled.
